Short BIO

Jordan Phethean holds an undergraduate and masters degree in Geology (Durham University, 2013), and a PhD in Geology and Geophysics (Durham University, 2018). He is a member of the Eurpoean Geosciences Union and the American Geophysical Union, as well as a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and the Higher Education Academy. Jordan’s research areas include continental margins, plate tectonics, computational geodynamics, geothermal energy, and water resources. He also founded the SPRinG project (Sourcing Potable Resources in Gaza) in 2019, which expores the potential for ultra-deep freshened coastal aquifers along the south east Mediterranean. Jordan is currently a Lecturer in Earth Sciences at the University of Derby, where he teaches numerous modules in Sustainable Water Resources, GeoEnergy Systems, and Geophysics.
